Verchaix in the Summer

In the spring the garden around Chalet Alice is transformed into a beautiful Alpine pasture with endless opportunities for walking. You can even start in the back garden from where you can walk past the mountain streams above the house to the high pastures beyond.

The rest of the valley sees the opening of the white water rafting centres, para-gliding and the swimming pool. The chair lift at Morillon 1100 operates throughout the summer and will whisk you to the top, offering the opportunity to walk down the lovely Marvel pasture surrounded by beautiful wild flowers and stop off at the excellent Igloo Restaurant.

Our guide book in the Chalet shows many of the places you can explore in the Alps during the summer. Chamonix is less than an hour away by car and here you can take the Mont Blanc and Montenver tramways. Better still, leave the car in Cluses and take the train which also links up to the narrow gauge railway through to Switzerland. Similarly Lake Geneva can be reached in under an hour if you fancy a trip on the Lake.

You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to local restaurants whether you stay in Verchaix or visit Morillon or Samoëns. Details of these will be found in our guide book in the chalet.

At all times of the year you will be rewarded by the wide range of wild life including the occasional visit from Ibex.
